Some of the (Wild) Life of Dangriga Belize

During my last days in Belize there were so many amazing things to see. There was the Sunday bathing ritual in the river. The Garifuna people have the tradition that is still practiced as you can see in the pictures. They also love to drum, and the famous drum maker Mr. Austin Rodriguez lives there on "Why-Not" island, which is by the town market. There is plenty to see in the jungle too, and we heard two low growls while hiking to the falls. The guide said more than likely it was jaguars warning us not to come too close to their hiding place. The fun loving people at The Pelican Beach Resort where I stayed are part of the fabric in this town as well. A very warm bunch of people for sure. I got to participate in a family night in the park where I was invited to sing in celibration of their Independance Day festivities. I sang a couple of songs that are universal (from Micheal Jackson)Heal the World, and We are the World and Jesus Loves Me, and invited all to sing along. The children gathered around and sang with me as did several adults. It was beautiful! I was humbled and pleased when David the organizer said that my spirit would linger there for a long time to come. It is truly a different world and every alternative health care person who can would do well to experience something similar. The people really appreciated the gift of health and caring that I brought to them through Reflexology. I will continue to write in this blog as I recall words and experiences from there. Please put the people of Dangriga Belize in your prayers and consider donating to the schools and libraries there to help educate the children. Also many or most of the children can not afford shoes and some of the high school students can't afford a uniform which means they can not attend school. Thank you in advance and thank you for enjoying this blog. I will write again soon.
